Nobody Left to Save

Admiral Bob

In March of 2008,a young woman studying at Carleton University took her own life by leaping from a bridge. What was particularly disturbing was that she had been egged on over the Internet, and the university seemed to have been aware she was having trouble adjusting to freshman life, but hadn’t reported the trouble home because of privacy concerns.

I wrote this song out of great sorrow for both her and her father. I had tried to find someone else to sing this pella, but I guess it has to be me.

E minor, 3/4 time.

The concrete is closing in
She said to no one at all
So she went for a walk
And found a place to fall

Where the water rolls in
Catching you like a wave
As far as the eye can see
There’s nobody left to save.

Help me, I just didn’t know
He told all that he met
Following her to the bridge
Please don’t let her sun set

Where the water rolls in
Catching you like a wave
As far as the eye can see
There’s nobody left to save.

Sorry we can’t tell you
Sorry there’s nothing to say
Maybe come back tomorrow
Offering you all of our sorrows

He searched far and wide
For someone to agree
If you had something to say
I could have set her free

Where the water rolls in
Catching you like a wave
As far as the eye can see
There’s nobody left to save.
